Alessandro Palmieri was born in Bari in 1967. After having graduated from the University of Bari (J.D., cum laude), he was admitted to the Italian Bar. He then continued his studies and obtained a Ph.D. in Comparative Private Law at the University of Trento (2001). He is currently Associate Professor of Comparative Private Law at the Law Department of the University of Siena (since 2005), where he also teaches "Liability and Torts in European Legal Systems: a Comparative and Multidisciplinary Perspective". Professor Palmieri is the author of 3 books and more than 200 publications. His main areas of scientific interest inculde Information and Technology Law, Consumer Law, Competition Law, and Intellectual Property Law. He obtained the National Scientific Qualification to function as Full Professor of Private Law (2013). He was Visiting Professor at the Faculty of Law of the Hebrew University of Jerusalem (2009 and 2012), and Guest Lecturer at the School of Law of the Tallinn University of Technology (2013). He is member of the Italian Association of Comparative Law, of the Italian Society of Law and Economics, of the Centre Européen de l’Informatique et de la Consommation, and of the Research Group for European and Comparative Public Law. He belongs to the Ph.D. Committee of the Doctoral School in "Legal Sciences” managed jointly by the Universities of Siena and Foggia.
